How Would You Like To Be Wooed?

Yeah yeah...accept it or not, we all love to be wooed in the most romantic and craziest of ways...wine, dine, candle lights, music et al! Being wooed by your sweetheart in the mushiest way possible is perhaps every woman's dream. So what's your take on this? How would you like to be proposed? For me, it's all about going down on knees, chocolates, music, good food and laugh to share. Seeing eye to eye and a smile which connects to the soul are the prerequisites. There's no perfect situation...any situation can be perfect when you're with your sweetheart!

Here's something for all you romantics...

I do not love you as if you were salt-rose, or topaz,

or the arrow of carnations the fire shoots off.
I love you as certain dark things are to be loved,
in secret, between the shadow and the soul.

I love you as the plant that never blooms
but carries in itself the light of hidden flowers;
thanks to your love a certain solid fragrance,
risen from the earth, lives darkly in my body.

I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where.
I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride;
so I love you because I know no other way

than this: where I does not exist, nor you,
so close that your hand on my chest is my hand,
so close that your eyes close as I fall asleep.

Top Ten Romantic Movies to Enjoy on a Rainy Day

Movies fascinate me! I'm a voracious reader and avid movie enthusiast, and the magic of silver screen enchants me like nothing else! Romantic movies or where love is the main theme captivates me in a big way. I've watched innumerable romantic movies as well as movies depicting various aspects of love. Not that I liked all of them, but most of them have won my heart.

So wondering which movies to catch up with on a rainy day? Well, choices may vary individually...but there are some titles which I guess are universal favorites. Check out the list of my personal favorite top ten which I would love to watch during the beautiful monsoons. Prerequisites: A comfy sofa, some soft pillows, good food and of course your sweetheart in tow:)

1)  Notting Hill: I have watched this several times and each time I watch, I fall in love with the characters again and again! The aura is beautiful, romance is mushy, music is wonderful and everything just looks in place. Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts is fabulous!

2) Pretty Woman: Awesome, Classy and Beautiful! Julia Roberts as Vivian still tops my chart of her favorite movies.

3) Cold Mountain: Jude Law, Nicole Kidman and Renee Zellweger puts up stellar performances in this 2003 war drama. Love is beautiful as well as sombre in this film.

4) Titanic: Oh so beautiful! It has now become an epic and cult romantic film. I find it hard to control my tears when I watch this love saga. I guess Jack and Rose would stand out as my all time favorite romantic characters. Titanic is still one of the highest grossing films in history!

5) Autumn in New York: Lovely, serene and melancholy at the same time! This is one of my favorite Winona Ryder films.

6) My Best Friend's Wedding: Hilarious and lovely at the same time. Julia Roberts at her vivacious best!

7) The Notebook: A simple and beautiful story and truly touching!

8) City of Angels: Nicolas Cage and Meg Ryan as Seth and Maggie are wonderful in this romantic drama. You fall in love with the characters over and over again!

9) Unfaithful: I love this one...well-made, lots of twists and turns and stark.

10) Shakespeare in Love: With an impressive assembly of good actors, this period piece is romantic, intriguing and swashbuckling!

There's a whole lot of beautiful movies which I have watched or want to watch...movies that fascinate me, make me cry or ponder...but more about them in the posts to come. Enjoy!

Ten Simplest Ways to Say "I Love You"

Saying "I Love You" can be quite unnerving for most people. These are the most simple and sweetest words on earth, but can be difficult to say in reality. It requires courage to say these magical words to your person of interest. Here's some interesting ways to propose to your sweetheart:

1) Write your message in a piece of paper and hide it somewhere in his/her's most used things. You can use a colored or any of those fancy papers and ink for the purpose; chances are he/she will get the message.

2) Plan a special outing/dinner/movie theater/or any place you like and have a heart to heart communication. Express your interest in him/her with your eyes and smile. Have a positive mind and smile a lot. You are sure to get a good response.

3) Gift something to the one you love. It can be chocolates, books or something they'll love. Wrap it nicely and gift them. It's a sweet way of conveying your message.

4) Invite the person you love and cook for them. Have a candlelit dinner. Having a sweet conversation over good food is a great way to convey your message of love.

5) Sending love letters can never be passe. So try them if you believe in writing down your thoughts. You can use colored ink, greeting cards or fancy papers to pen down your thoughts. Writing a love poem is also a good idea. If you are too nervous to hand it over by yourself, make someone close to you to do that. Emailing and the good old way of posting by mail is also a good idea.

6) Now is the time for technology; so conveying your thoughts is no big deal. Send a text message, picture message, voice mail or something sweet and wacky to say that you love them. If you can gather the courage, just ring them up!

7) Go for a romantic movie, boat rides or music shows and convey your love message when you feel that the time is appropriate.

8) Take a walk together or go somewhere. Don't forget to smile, make a lot of eye contact and touch your partner, when you are out. This will make things easy for you and will convey your message of love appropriately.

9) Nothing says it more clearly than a bunch of red roses. So go ahead and say it with red roses. You can even hide a romantic poem written on a chit somewhere inside the bouquet.

10) Send them an online greeting card. It is perhaps the easiest and sweet way of conveying your romantic message to your beloved. There are many online card sites out there today, which allow you to send beautiful greeting cards for free.

So if you really love someone, don't just sit and wait for things to fall into place. Make a plan and get ready to convey your message at the earliest!

One Lone Tear

I love Maya Angelou's poems...they are so eloquent and true to life. Here's one of my favorites:

Touched by an Angel

We, unaccustomed to courage
exiles from delight
live coiled in shells of loneliness
until love leaves its high holy temple
and comes into our sight
to liberate us into life.

Love arrives

and in its train come ecstasies
old memories of pleasure
ancient histories of pain.
Yet if we are bold,
love strikes away the chains of fear
from our souls.

We are weaned from our timidity

In the flush of love's light
we dare be brave
And suddenly we see
that love costs all we are
and will ever be.
Yet it is only love
which sets us free.

Monsoon:The Season of Love

Monsoon is the season of LOVE and ROMANCE. There is an unmistakable whiff of romanticism in the air! The misty air, the sweet aroma of rain soaked soil, the rumbling of thunder, the twittering of birds in the pale horizon, the pearly raindrops on leaves, builds the perfect ambience for a cosy love story.

Just imagine--what it is like thinking about your beloved on a rain washed evening? Rain has magical qualities to trigger our romantic life. Personally, I'd like walking in the rain with the one I love, and have steaming cups of freshly ground coffee. Watching a good movie is also quite romantic...however, don't forget your popcorn:)
In Kolkata, mostly couples love to catch up a movie at a multiplex, take a stroll along the Maidan greens, in and around Victoria Memorial, or simply do some mall hopping, to make the most of monsoon romance. There are, no doubt, dearth of romantic hangouts in Kolkata. I feel, coffee shops are the best places to unwind and have a romantic rendezvous.

The entire feeling of love and romance in the rains can be summed up in this beautiful poem by "Eternal Night"...

Rain, rain will you stay?
I kind of like the clouds of gray.

If you must leave, I understand.
It is the good mothers command.
I want to take you to the park
And hold you under veil of dark.
I want to show my love is real.
I need to tell you how I feel.
I’ll hold you close, and keep you warm;
I’ll shield you from the violent storm.
And when the sun begins to shine
I’ll still be yours, and you’ll be mine.
Rain, rain will you remain;
And wash way all of our pain?
We press our lips, in loves exchange
I hope that you will never change.
I never want to let you go;
I’ll whisper how I love you so.
And as the rain picks up its speed
I’ll vow to be the one you need
Rain, rain will you stay?
I kind of like the clouds of gray.
There’s nothing I would rather do
Than spend my time here holding you…
